Basic security procedures: patrols, access control, alarms and crowds

Post orders first

Every site has post orders - written instructions from the client and employer describing duties, patrol routes, alarm responses, access rules and who to call. Read them at the start of every shift; procedures vary from company to company, and the test expects you to follow the employer's lawful instructions.

Observation

Observation means using all your senses to notice what is normal and what is not: people, vehicles, smells (smoke, gas), sounds, open doors, damaged locks, leaks. Good observation lets a guard deter, detect and report before an incident grows.
